Fumes, Few dollars and FAITH!

I wanted to write this to help everyone understand the importance of your financial support for my ministry. ... When I first felt lead to become a missionary I was concerned I wouldn't have enough money to survive. It's not an everyday job where you know exactly how much you make an hour and what days you get paid. Each Friday I check my bank statement in hopes that someone has sent something so I can cover my bills, gas, food, etc. So far every month I have been a little frightened but always knew that God will provide. Each month there has been just enough or a little under what I need. My close family and friends have rescued me by filling my gas tank or getting me food when I desperately need it. I know people say that "God doesn't give us more than we can handle." But I would like to amend that statement, "God gives us more than we alone can handle because we are not meant to handle it on our own." I knew that becoming a missionary was really stepping out in faith and knowing God will provide. But what I want you to understand is that God uses His people to provide for each other. This week God has really stretched me thin and satan is attacking but I will stand firm in the Lord. On New Years Eve I will be having a kick off party for One Way Youth. I have been preparing for that early so I can see my family for Christmas. While driving to Madras yesterday to finish some last minute things before I headed to see family today, my 'service engine soon' light came on and I had $1 in my pocket and $0 in my account. I called my mentor and close friend Tami and she said she may know what it is and when I come back to visit, her husband will help me with it. Her and her husband have helped me a lot because they believe in me and the ministry. When I checked my bank statement today to see what I got paid it said $80. That is maybe enough to cover one of my bills. So far this month I have only been paid $110. I'm sure that a lot of you would understand that is not enough to live on. It discouraged me a little bit but I still know that God will provide and no matter how hard satan tries he won't take me down as long as God and His people are on my side. So despite knowing if I will have enough gas money to get back home (the rez) and be able to pay my bills. I still set off, 'service engine soon' light on and all and have arrived safely in my home town. Tomorrow Tom will look at my car and fix it. A big thank you to Tom and Tami for always helping me and making me a part of your family. ... In order to continue working with the teens and being a missionary in Warm Springs I am in desperate need of your financial help. I need to raise at least $1000 a month to provide for myself and the youth ministry. This is also a minimum amount that IMF (the company I am a missionary with) asks to be raised. If you enjoy the videos and pictures I post and are at all inspired and feel lead to help please do so. It is best if you sign up for automatic withdraw from a checking or savings account to ensure that I receive funds in a timely manner. You can donate online here: http://i-m-f.org/paypal/ppal_donate.html Make sure to indicate your donation is for Kristen Anderson. ... If you can not make a financial donation please feel free to ask me how you can help by donating your time or items you don't need anymore. I am looking for people to donate frozen pizzas, sodas, bags of large marshmallows, chaperon services and money for the New Years Eve party. Please call, e-mail (missionaryanderson@gmail.com) or facebook message me for more information.  Thank you all so much and God Bless, Kristen

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?  -Matthew 6:25-27

First week on the rez

I finally got all moved into the reservation. It was a week full of cleaning, organizing, unpacking, fixing things, putting in job applications, etc. It was a wonderful event filled week. There are a lot of fires on the reservation but none of them are right next to where I live. God has been keeping me safe. Please pray for anyone affected by the fires. Thank you for all your love, prayers and support. This Sunday is my first official Sunday at the Baptist church. I will be leading worship and I am so excited! ... Please keep considering supporting me financially as a missionary. As of now I have to get a few part time jobs to support myself and the youth ministry. If you are able to help by a one time donation or monthly support please visit the following website: http://www.i-m-f.org/paypal/ppal_donate.html Make sure to indicate your donation is for Kristen Anderson.

A little about what I am preparing to do ...

Here is a video of what I have been doing: Warm Springs Missionary

Dear Family and Friends,

I am writing this letter to tell you of an incredible opportunity I have been given and how you may also be a part of this opportunity. I want to thank you in advance for taking time out of your busy lives and schedules to read about my up and coming journey and how you can partner with me.

I am currently getting ready to become a missionary in Warm Springs, Oregon; an Indian reservation. Warm Springs is a community filled with lost and hurting people who have turned to drugs, alcohol and other means to mask their pain. I am really excited about the opportunity to bring light into the darkness and know that it is where God has called me to be.

My first experience serving the people of Warm Springs was when I helped clean a camp for a woman name Gladys. While serving there I felt God telling me this is where I needed to be to serve Him. It was such an amazing experience cleaning this camp, knowing the next month there would be children from the reservation and other areas of Oregon learning about Christ in the same room I was cleaning. After leaving Warm Springs I felt God telling me I needed to come back and serve him in this area. I was blessed enough to be a counselor June 2009 for the girls camp I had spent the previous month cleaning up for. After that I knew I was where God has called me to be. Since May 2009 I have continued to go back and serve at camps and various other venues.

While serving as a missionary in Warm Springs I will be working with some people from the Baptist church to start up a youth ministry for kids ages 11-18. I really felt God telling me that the youth could use a safe place where they can go to fellowship with others. A place that provides positive adult influences who not only talk the talk, but walk the walk. Somewhere where they will learn and experience Christ’s love for us.

In order to be a missionary I need support from all my family and friends. I’m not just asking for financial help, although that is needed. I’m also asking for you to pray for me and the people of Warm Springs. Pray that God’s will is done and that others lives are changed as well as for change in my life. Pray that I will find the right people and mentors to help me with the youth program. Also pray that all the financial needs for this mission are meet and that the money I raise is used to fulfill God’s will. Please also consider partnering with me financially. Your support will make a significant difference in the lives of so many, including myself.

Thank you again for taking time out of your busy lives and schedules to read this letter and consider partnering with me.

God Bless,
Kristen Anderson
